Honored and Humbled: Winning the Best DJ in YMM Award

April 10, 2025 was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere at the Rivers Casino & Entertainment Center was electric—filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement, like the first ...or second day of school. My wife, Denée as well as our good friends Mays and Nassor were by my side, making me feel grounded and supported, even with a bit of nervousness in the air. Might I add that they looked amazing. It's a good feeling, getting dressed up nice for an outing. Being surrounded by the best talent in Fort McMurray was both humbling and exhilarating.

The evening featured incredible performances, including a memorable guitar set by Brandon Bryson and Dan Tulk, followed by the charismatic hosting of Mike Jones. One standout moment for me and my friends, Nassor and Mays, was discovering just how many amazing businesses were being recognized. It was eye-opening to see the breadth of talent and entrepreneurship in our community.

When my name was announced for the Best DJ in YMM award, I already knew I had won, but that didn’t take away from the thrill. My palms were sweaty, and my heart was racing. I had a little surprise planned: I snuck in a small speaker and played “Game Changer” by Flavour. The opening line— “The emperor, the conqueror, the champion, the lion is here” —felt like the perfect soundtrack to the moment. I danced my way up to the stage, soaking it all in.

Standing there, holding the award, I was a mix of nerves and pride. This was the second time I’ve won this honor, and it felt even more special this time. I took a photo with the MC Mike Jones (far left), Michael Jesso (to my right) and Kerri Johnson (far right), a moment I’ll cherish and share with all of you.

I owe so much to the incredible people who have supported me along the way. My wife Denée, my rock and best friend, has been there through thick and thin. To everyone who voted for me, and to the city of Fort McMurray, thank you for seeing the value in what I do. Your encouragement keeps me pushing forward.

This recognition is a milestone, but it’s also a reminder to keep striving for more. My goal now is to push my craft to the next level—whether it’s creating better mixes, producing original tracks, or performing on bigger stages. This award is a testament to the community’s support and a motivator to keep raising the bar.
